One of the best things about Seattle is the summers we have, and I would say one of the major reasons to live in South Lake Union is the variety of outdoor activities that are available without even having to leave the city.
What are your favorite things to do during the summer in SLU (or in its general proximity)?
Go to Top Pot Doughnuts and then head to Pike Place Market for some people watching!
The 4th-of-July fireworks from our apartment's rooftop are amazing.
Good call. Maybe at Lake Union Park eventually? I like playing basketball outside. A few of us are trying to get pick-up games going Tuesdays and Thursdays at the courts by Denny Park (SLU not UW):
Oh yah. My husband would be really interested in playing basketball. I will let him know. He has been thinking about trying to get some people together so this will be great news to him. Now he just has to get off of work in time!
Tennis courts at Lake Union Park would be awesome. I'll keep hoping...
I agree!!! The closest tennis courts that I know if is Rogers Playground. I love tennis! Totally bummed that Lower Woodlands (Greenlake) are renovating this summer.

I work for the city and what i do when the weather is very nice is go to the market..
In SLU, paddy coynes can sometimes be fun, early in june I went to mad pizza and watched NBA finals since its a short walk. I like to ride my bike in the area. I have not participated in the movie night on denny and westlake. 4th of july i literally hung out my window to watch the fireworks...
Happy hour at Southlake grill is decent, and i'm yet to venture to the german place.
I don't have many friends in seattle so I'm always a loner on doing things... alas...
Everyone, it's blackberry season! Bring a pail and some mini-pruning shears from City Hardware.
I'm not sure on good locations in SLU, but they grow all over the city by the side of the road and in vacant lots. My favorite spots are UW campus along the Burke-Gilman Trail and Magnuson Park.
