I can't wait for the Mirabella building on Denny & Fairview to finish so that all the sidewalks can re-open. They recently opened the sidewalk along Denny, but does anyone have any idea when the sidewalk along Fairview will reopen? And when the building finishes, will there be any street-level retail?
...also the streets. Projects like Mirabella close off streets and sidewalks for more than a year. Assumedly there is permit fees for these closures. I have been working in the neighborhood for about 2.5 years. In that time, where there was free parking on all streets, there are now parking meters bringing in revenue. Does some of this money make its way back to the neighborhood for maintenance or human services? Judging by the concition of streets, the trash in general and along Pontius north of Denny in Particular, apparently not enough is making its way back to the neighborhood.

At least Mirabella is scheduled to finish "early", as delays are more often the case with new construction. I'm not sure if there will be any retail available to the general public. If there is, it appears the only retail will be in the atrium on the corner of Denny and Fairview. And I have a feeling whatever it is will cater to those with advanced age, which is fine. But the rest of the block will be relatively barren, which is too bad.

Looks like we're getting our sidewalk on Fairview back finally. Though I don't really like what I see now that they pulled away the fencing and construction materials. The windows at the base along Fairview aren't at the same level as the floors. You see a blank wall when you look into the building from the street level--how's that for activating the streetscape? Aye carumba.
